AN EVENING WITH STUART TOWNSEND - we have been invited to this fantastic evening at Christ Church, London Road, Braintree on Friday 2 March at 7.30pm by the Beds, Essex and Herts Methodist District Office. Tickets are £8 each, buy 5 get 6th free. His songs include ‘In Christ Alone’ ‘How Deep the Father's Love’ ‘The Power of the Cross’ and ‘Beautiful Saviour’. Stuart is also a gifted worship leader, musician, recording artist and seminar speaker and spends a good part of his year leading worship at major Christain events, doing solo concerts, recording studio albums and training emerging worship leaders and songwriters).

The Lea Singers' next concert is at High Street Methodist, Harpenden. The programme includes choir favourites such as Byrd's ‘Sing Joyfully’, Bairstow's grand setting for choir and organ ‘Blessed City, Heavenly Salem’ (worth coming for our fantastic organist James Sherlock alone) and a world premiere of John Pickard's Magnificat which we will sing in Durham Cathedral after Easter. PLEASE NOTE: On Saturday 25 February at 10am there will be a WORKING PARTY to clear all cupboards, shelves etc. throughout the church. Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

It is now only Two weeks and five days until Debbie and Lesley start their Kilimanjaro climb. The serious training has begun. They start the climb on Friday the 2nd March, aiming to reach the summit for the full moon on Wednesday 7th March. They are still hoping to raise as much as possible for their two charities, Diabetes UK and Parkinson's, so please, if you can, sponsor them to help them get to the top. All the money raised will go straight to the charities. There is a box at the back of church where you can place your sponsorship forms. Any amount will be gratefully received as it all adds up.

God's Healing Love, Sunday 12 February 2012 at High Street Methodist Church. Rev Dr Malcolm White will be preaching, leading a workshop and ministering healing prayer. This will be followed by Tea and refreshments before 6.30pm Healing Service. Further information from Margaret Addicott.

Margaret would like to say a very sincere thank you to all who helped in any way with the lunch last Sunday. Those who gave of their cooking skills for the lasagne and the sweets and all who helped prepare the tables, served the food and washed up. The result was very much appreciated by everyone. A big thank you too to all who gave so generously to the offering basket and the envelopes in the pews *The grand total for World Church and Home Missions in the envelopes was £60.75 and offerings for lunch £112. Praise the Lord!

Our annual Gift Service is to be held on 4 December at 10.30. Gifts for the housebound, the elderly and ‘Open Door’ - a hostel for homeless men - will be gratefully received. Ideas for gifts:- Biscuits, chocolates, men’s socks, underwear, toiletries or money. With thanks for your help.

I was moved spiritually this week rehearsing the jazz arrangements our conductor Craig McLeish has set for some carols for our Christmas Concert. Thursday 22 December, 7.30 at Harpenden Public Hall, free mince pies, mulled wine, audience carols and jazz trio. Come along! Tickets from Fran Brown 793845. £13, (£11 concessions), £5 children

The Gleaners House Group will meet on Wednesday 7 September at 8pm at 109 Tassell Hall.

Many thanks to those who continue to support our Coffee Mornings, held on the second Saturday of each month. From the donations that we have received at the past 5 coffee mornings, we have been able to give £125 to the Herts Air Ambulance service and £125 to our church funds. Our next coffee morning will be on September 10th and this will be a special fund-raising event. Donations from this will be passed on to a fund that has been set up to support Toby, a 6 year old friend of Daniel Murphy (Ron and Betty's grandson). Toby needs to go to America to undergo an operation on that will help him to walk unaided.
We look forward to seeing as many people as possible on 10th September, and at all future coffee mornings. You are assured of a warm welcome!
